Bavaria: AfD demands the rights of the opposition leader – Bavaria

No matter orange, all eyes on green. The Free Voters caught up during the vote count on Sunday evening and ultimately became the second strongest force in Bavaria. But on the AfD election evening in the state parliament, this bar on the screen received less attention. The AfD was not concerned with the title of second strongest force, but rather with who would become opposition leader if the FW formed a coalition with the CSU again. It is now clear: the AfD and the Greens will have the same number of mandates in the future state parliament, namely 32. Because the AfD is just ahead of the Greens with 14.6 percent, it will lead the opposition; instead of the Greens as before. This contributed to the euphoria in the AfD rooms in the state parliament, but it was with disbelief that some guests whispered the word “opposition leader” into their champagne glasses. Because no matter who you spoke to in the Bayern AfD before Sunday, that was certainly not priced in as a realistic election goal.
