Did Lieselotte Kortüm, 78 years old and with severe mobility problems, fall and drown while she was filling her bathtub with water? Or did the caretaker Manfred Genditzki knock her down in an argument and drown her in the bathtub to cover it up? Genditzki was found guilty and convicted twice because a criminal chamber at the Munich II Regional Court ruled out the possibility of an accident, based on the opinion of a Munich coroner. Manfred Genditzki was therefore in prison for 13 years and six months. Now the court has to decide for the third time: accident or murder? And this time the tide seems to be turning in the defendant’s favour.
