The Toronto Raptors and Dennis Schröder were not a success story. The world champion returns to Canada with the Brooklyn Nets – and shows what he can do.

World Champion Dennis Schröder won again with the Brooklyn Nets after six defeats in a row and impressed in a duel with his former team. In the 96:88 win against the Toronto Raptors, the captain of the German national basketball team was the best player on the court with 19 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.

“We really had a dry spell recently and the victory was important,” said Schröder to the German Press Agency. “It’s fun here and I hope the trend goes in the right direction over the next ten games.” With the win, the Nets maintain their small hope of finishing tenth in the Eastern Conference and participating in the play-in for the playoffs.

Because the Atlanta Hawks surprisingly won against league leaders Boston Celtics, the Nets were unable to reduce the deficit. Before the 118:120, the Celtics had won nine games and had the longest winning streak in the NBA. The Raptors are now the weakest team in the league with eleven defeats in a row and will next face the New York Knicks around Isaiah Hartenstein, who had no problems in the 124:99 win against the Detroit Pistons and consolidated fourth place in the Eastern Conference . Donte DiVincenzo set a club record with eleven three-pointers and scored a strong 40 points for the Knicks.

Theis only a benchwarmer when he reunites with his former club

In the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks beat the Utah Jazz 115:105 and stayed in sixth place and qualified directly for the playoffs. Würzburg’s Maxi Kleber had two points and three rebounds in his 15 minutes of play. Luka Doncic recorded a triple double of double figures in three statistical categories with 29 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds for the Mavericks.

Daniel Theis also had a reunion with an ex-club. In contrast to his friend Dennis Schröder, Theis didn’t get a chance for sporting satisfaction. He was only on the bench in the Los Angeles Clippers’ 116:133 defeat against the Indiana Pacers – just as he had been for most of his time with the Pacers.
