A soldier was killed in an exchange of fire. The 20-year-old shot his superior and injured him. Further investigations into the crime are to follow.
According to a spokesman for the Austrian Ministry of Defense, a guard fired several shots at his superior in a barracks in Austria, injuring him. In the exchange of fire that followed, the 20-year-old soldier was shot dead by his superior. The incident happened at the airfield barracks, about 50 kilometers from Vienna.
According to initial information, the incident was preceded by a dispute, as spokesman Michael Bauer wrote on Twitter.

According to the APA news agency, the State Criminal Police Office initiated investigations into the exact course of events. A fatal incident had already occurred three years ago in the same barracks: At that time, a dog handler was attacked and killed by two military dogs. The 31-year-old sergeant was responsible for looking after and feeding the service dogs.
