Glitter, glamor and a particularly long red carpet: after a three-year break, there is another Bambi awards ceremony.

The Bambi is back: NAfter a three-year Corona break, the media prize was awarded again for the first time suitable for the anniversary year. The first Award went to the actor Felix Kammerer for his leading role in the Oscar-winning film “All Quiet in the West”.

Bambi received and immediately returned

With Kammerer were Florian David Fitz for his role in “Oscars Dress” and Elyas M’Barek nominated for his portrayal of investigative journalist Juan Moreno in “A Thousand Lines.” On the red carpet, M’Barek was happy to have the chance to play Bambi himself. “I’ve picked up Bambi a few times, but then had to hand it over to the producer or director.” The two fellow nominees are his friends, which is why he would be happy if they won, he said before the award ceremony. And anyway: “Being there is everything.”

The Bambi is awarded by Hubert Burda Media and is one of the most important media and television awards in Germany. It has been around since 1948. This year marks its 75th birthday.

The German national basketball team received the Bambi in the category Sports awarded by two former sports stars: Bastian Schweinsteiger and his wife Ana Ivanovic. “We have proven what you can achieve when you have a team like this,” said national coach Gordon Herbert.

Two Scandinavians honored

Some of the winners had already been decided beforehand: Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (“The Rush”), who was amazed at the impressive length of the red carpet, was supposed to receive the Bambi in the “International Acting” category, the Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson in the “International Music” category.

The Bambis are awarded in twelve categories. In the “Courage” category, the Kremlin critic was absent Alexei Navalny excellent. The laudatory speech was given by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. “This indomitable man deserves our solidarity,” she said of the imprisoned Kremlin critic. Navalny’s commitment to freedom, democracy and human rights makes everyone responsible. Navalny’s wife Yulia accepted the award. Her husband is “a victim of the truth. He still tells the truth even though he is in prison.”

Peter Maffay, who received a Bambi 43 years ago, should be declared a “legend” and actress Senta Berger should receive the Bambi for her life’s work. Even after decades in show business, she still has stage fright, said the 82-year-old. “The more you know what can go wrong, the more excited you are.”
