Bakers tackle crazy world record

Everyone knows, the best baguette is kneaded, baked and sold for more than a euro (ouch) in Paris. Moreover, the best baguette in Paris was awarded last week to a bakery on rue Jean-Pierre-Timbaud. But this Sunday, Parisian bakers are tackling the world record for the longest baguette. During the Suresnes Baguette Show, organized with the national confederation of French bakery and pastries and Nutella, they will “attempt to bake in public a baguette measuring more than 132.62 m”, announces the press release for the event.

Since June 16, 2019, this record has been held by Italy but on Sunday, the twelve bakers, including five from Suresnes, plan to bring the baguette home. “This Suresnes Baguette Show will be held on the terrace of Fécheray […] with its panoramic view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

Eight hours of cooking

Here, in detail, is what the twelve bakers challenging the world record will be measured against. “The dough will be kneaded, shaped on site then baked in front of the public in a rolling tent oven. Its composition will follow the rules of the art with the only ingredients being wheat flour, water, yeast and salt. Cooking this giant baguette, which must reach a thickness of at least 5 cm over its entire length, will take around eight hours. »

After cooking, approval will be submitted to the Guinness World Record to formalize or not the new world record for the longest baguette. Then part of it will be cut and spread with Nutella to be shared with the public. The other part distributed to homeless people during a marauding of theCelije association.
