Bags of cocaine found washed up on beach

On the (not) abandoned beach, shellfish… and cocaine? Saturday, in Soulac-sur-Mer, in Gironde, a beach had to be closed “to allow the area to be combed with special means and avoid the intervention of passers-by” after the discovery of several bags containing drugs, reports France 3. In total, 4.5 kg of cocaine were found on the sand of Amélie beach.

According to initial analyses, the contents of the bags were “very altered” because they would have stayed “several weeks in the water” before washing up on the beach. Still according to the local media, it would be “residue from a lost load”. While the discovery may seem unusual, it is not unusual. The gendarmes find this type of product “quite frequently” on the coast, as they reminded France 3.
