They searched late Sunday and are looking again: There is still no trace of a missing two-year-old girl in Bingen near Sigmaringen. This is particularly worrying given the weather.

These are anxious hours: it’s been in since Sunday evening In Bingen near Sigmaringen at the foot of the Swabian Alb, a two-year-old child has disappeared without a trace. Emergency services searched feverishly for the girl well into the night, and divers, boats and drones with thermal imaging cameras were also deployed – in vain. The toddler was not initially found, said a police spokeswoman. The search is currently underway.

The two-year-old girl probably left her parents’ house on Sunday between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. in an unobserved moment. The girl was probably only wearing pajamas at the time of her disappearance. The two-year-old is about 60 centimeters tall and has short, blonde hair and blue eyes.

Large-scale search

Among other things, the police are checking whether they will also use a police helicopter for the search. According to the information, this was not possible on Sunday evening due to the weather. The spokeswoman said they would “pull out all the stops” to find the toddler, and divers and sniffer dogs would also be used.

Almost 200 emergency services searched for the girl in Bingen until around midnight on Sunday evening, after which the operation initially continued on a smaller scale. The police are particularly concerned about the weather situation: because of the low temperatures, the danger to the child is very high, said a spokesman. It was therefore important to intervene quickly.

According to the information, the police, fire brigade and technical relief organization are taking part in the large-scale search operation. Because the Lauchert River runs near the home of the toddler’s parents, fire department divers arrived. The police were initially unable to provide any information about the background to the girl’s disappearance.
