Because of the scandal surrounding his use of the “N-word”, Tübingen’s mayor took a four-week break. Now he’s back. The non-party politician is satisfied with his time off.

Tübingen’s Lord Mayor Boris Palmer is after a month-long Time out back at City Hall. The non-party politician was already working through the first files and e-mails in his office and dealing with urgent proposals for the municipal council.

The first public appointments were also planned for the evening. At the opening of the Tübingen Summer Festival, Palmer was supposed to tap the barrel. Originally, the city administration had announced that Palmer would take over the official business in the city hall again from Monday.

He did not miss the work in the town hall during his four-week break. “I’ve always liked going into business, but I can do without,” he told the German Press Agency. Palmer was satisfied with his break: “It was good the way it was.” He did not want to give any details – including the results.

The mayor of the city of 90,000 took a four-week break on June 1st. The reason for this was an uproar surrounding Palmer’s statements on the sidelines of a migration conference in Frankfurt/Main at the end of April. After the escalation, he also left the Greens. In the past, the politician was repeatedly offended with provocative statements.
