Bad Tölz: Telekom expands infrastructure – Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

The expansion of the fiber optic network in Bad Tölz is progressing. After the spa district was provided with fast internet last year, this year the pedestrian zone and the old town area in particular will have their turn. The work, directed by Telekom, would be continued by up to seven construction crews, the city announced. In the old town and on Marktstraße, the house connections are laid in an open excavation, namely on the left-hand side of the street in 40 to 50 meter long construction sections. In a second phase, this also happens on the opposite side of the street. While the expansion in Nockhergasse, Fröhlichgasse and Wachterstraße is starting as planned and some residual work is still being carried out in the bathing area, it will still take a while in the pedestrian zone. The reason: the Easter market is supposed to take place there undisturbed. According to the city, the work will continue until late autumn. In another, the expansion is to take place in Kohlstatt.

Overall, Telekom wants to supply around 4,100 Tölz households with fiber optic internet. Another 1300 households on the Flinthöhe are to follow, but there is no timetable there yet. Although local residents can look forward to an improvement in broadband coverage, there will be noise and traffic disruptions during the work. – Mayor Ingo Mehner (CSU) was a little annoyed at the most recent meeting of the Main and Finance Committee that some sections of road were only provisionally paved after the fiber optic cables were laid. In this way, Königsdorfer Strasse became a kind of mogul slope in places. “The employees in the building authority prevent the worst,” said Mehner. “Some companies need a certain amount of support.”

Anyone who would like to find out whether they will personally benefit from the expansion can go to http://www.telekom.de/netz/glasfaser check whether his address is in an expansion area. Network operators and their own contract providers will answer questions about bandwidths, contracts, costs and any expansion plans for specific addresses.
