Maybe if the local election three years ago had turned out differently. At that time, a certain Hans Söllner had applied for the post of Lord Mayor in Bad Reichenhall. Söllner apparently wanted to get into the middle management of the authorities he had been singing and smoking against for decades. “Mei Voda hod an Marihuanabam”, it said, for example, in a song from the eighties, with which Söllner was even more successful than with his 8.4 percent in the 2020 mayoral election.
But if he had won, who knows, maybe the so-called city fathers would have had a marijuana plantation planted. But as it is, it will probably remain a mystery where all the hemp plants at the Reichenhaller Salinenkreisel come from.
Or was it the economy? After all, a well-known Bad Reichenhall brand salt manufacturer only tried to push “the new organic hemp salt” onto the market at the beginning of 2021. But that was supposedly only available in a limited edition anyway and while stocks last. It may still be available in the dark corners of some train station area, at the same black market prices as before. But for marketing via the company’s own online shop, the supply does not seem to be enough, which is why such underground branded salt marketing at the Salinenkreisel would no longer be necessary.
But it would have worked, because the obligatory work of art at the roundabout in the Salinenkreisel already consists of a large salt shaker. And that video with the hemp plants really went viral on social media, just like marketers would probably hallucinate in their salty rush. The city administration then added a message to this without instructions from Hans Söllner. So it was certainly not the city gardeners. The Stadtgartenmeister rather suspected the source of the seed was the “delivery of substrate from the composting facility” or birds that could have spread the hemp seeds contained in some bird feed mixtures. For people who already see themselves spinning around the salt shaker with the sickle out of the side window, the city also has important information: It is only pure industrial hemp, “therefore ineffective as an intoxicant”.
