When walking, two people in the Upper Palatinate were struck by lightning and injured. A 42-year-old man and his 55-year-old companion were on Monday in Bad Kötzting (Cham district) with an open umbrella and two dogs, the police said. After being struck by lightning, they called 911 from the wooded area. They were taken to the hospital in two helicopters with moderate injuries. A dog was also injured. The second dog ran away and is currently believed to be missing, according to police. It is a Labrador who may also have been injured.
