A barn fire in Geroda in the Bad Kissingen district also spread to residential buildings on Wednesday. A total of six buildings were affected and partially burned down, said a police spokesman in the evening. A resident was slightly injured. The fire brigade has now brought the fire under control, but the post-extinguishing work is likely to drag on into the evening. The federal road leading through Geroda was closed.
About 200 emergency services from the region are on site, said the police spokesman. They were alerted at around 3:15 p.m. by a witness who saw flames in a building. Initial investigations indicated that the fire started in a barn. The cause is still open, the fire area cannot be entered yet. The first hearings of witnesses were under way.
