In a hotel in the Oberallgäu district, 57 people fell ill with a gastrointestinal virus. Three of them were taken to a hospital, the district office said. The other sick people are therefore still in the hotel in Bad Hindelang’s Oberjoch district, a spokeswoman reported on Saturday. According to the information, three doctors, employees of the health department and 28 helpers from the Johanniter Unfallhilfe and the Bavarian Red Cross took care of those affected on site late Friday evening.
The public areas of the hotel have been extensively disinfected. It is currently not known whether the pathogen is the highly contagious norovirus, it said. According to the authority, the examination of stool samples was initiated by the health department. So far, no illness has been detected in another 265 guests.
