Bad Abbach: coach overturned – two serious injuries – Bavaria


A Czech coach overturned in Lower Bavaria on the way from Italy to Prague. Several people suffered minor to severe injuries. Bad Abbach (dpa) – In an accident of a Czech coach in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim, several people were injured. The bus started to roll and overturned on Saturday morning for an unexplained cause and without the involvement of other vehicles, the police said. A total of 14 travelers had to be transported to the surrounding hospitals.

Two women (21 and 47 years old) and two men (48 and 52 years old) suffered serious injuries and have to be hospitalized. Another ten inmates suffered minor injuries. According to the officials, they could leave the clinic after their treatment. The 57-year-old bus driver was uninjured. The police corrected the number of people taken to the hospital up during the morning.

A police spokesman explained that the touring bus began to sway at the triangle Saalhaupt when crossing the Autobahn 93 onto Bundesstraße 15 and tilted to the left. According to the officials, there were 37 people from the Czech Republic in the vehicle. The bus was on its way from Italy to Prague. The rest of the tour group stayed in a nearby fire station before starting their journey home to Prague with a replacement bus. The Saalhaupt motorway triangle was closed for several hours. The recovery of the overturned bus lasted until noon.

How the accident near Bad Abbach came about was initially unclear. The police were on site with interpreters. An expert should clarify the exact course of the accident.
