Almost a year after the murder of 14-year-old Ayleen from Baden-Württemberg, the trial begins at the Gießen district court. The accused is no stranger to the authorities.

Last July, the police searched for 14-year-old Ayleen from Gottenheim in Baden-Württemberg for more than a week – in the end the girl was found dead in Teufelsee in Hesse.

As of this Tuesday morning, a then 29-year-old from Friedrichsdorf near Frankfurt am Main has to answer to the Gießen district court for the death of the young people. The charges include murder, attempted rape resulting in death and confiscation of minors.

The Gießen prosecutor accuses the accused of murdering Ayleen

The public prosecutor accuses the man of kidnapping the student and killing him on a dirt road on July 22 at night before dumping the body on the lake shore (the star reported). The crime is said to have been sexually motivated. The accused had already been admitted to a psychiatric ward in 2007 for a sexual offense as a young person. The subsequent leadership supervision expired six months before Ayleen’s murder. Shortly thereafter, he is said to have sexually harassed and coerced other girls in three cases – this was already known to the police at the time of Ayleen’s disappearance. This is one of the reasons why the Hessian authorities have been criticized.

The victim and the alleged perpetrator are said to have met online and chatted with each other for several weeks. The 30-strong special police commission that had been deployed in the meantime tracked down the man by evaluating mobile phone data, among other things. During his interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder, according to investigators.

For the trial at the Giessen district court, 15 days of trial are initially scheduled. The verdict against the 30-year-old is expected to be pronounced in September.
