Aying: District Administrator honors volunteers – District of Munich

Not much happens without volunteers, that applies to society in general, but especially to sport, where dedicated people keep the clubs running without pay. The district of Munich therefore regularly honors those among the helpers who have made a special contribution to sports and rifle clubs. This week in Aying, 18 people were awarded the district’s golden badge of honour, 15 of them were able to receive them personally from District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU).

In addition to the first chairmen, long-standing cashiers, department and exercise managers and IT coordinators were also honored. Of all the awardees, Horst Wagner has been with SV Straßlach-Dingarting for the longest time as secretary and advisor, followed by his club colleague Gudrun Spindler, who has been involved as a trainer and in the department management of the gymnastics division for 39 years. For 24 years, Simone Lang has been a volunteer gymnastics coach for six to twelve year olds at TSV Ottobrunn.

The district administrator thanked them and everyone else for their commitment, especially in the difficult Corona years, in which training operations “could only be continued with great effort, if at all,” as Göbel said. “Today it is a mammoth task to organize clubs solely on a voluntary basis.” Member administration, company audits, construction and renovation projects – some of the tasks are more than demanding. “The expectations of the members are also increasing,” says Göbel.
