Sometimes yes, sometimes no – now there is finally clarity. Country icon Dolly Parton is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

After the fuss about her nomination, country icon Dolly Parton (76) was inducted into the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame”.

Parton is one of the new additions this year – along with Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon, among others, the Hall of Fame announced. The recording should be officially celebrated on November 5th.

Parton actually announced in March that she wanted to withdraw from the race for a spot in the Hall of Fame. The “Jolene” singer said she was very flattered, but didn’t feel she deserved that right. A few weeks later, however, she changed her mind: she would no longer turn down this honor, but “politely” accept it. She would have learned in the meantime that this honor does not only apply to rock musicians and that fans are also involved in voting.

The Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, announced a total of 17 nominations for this year in February. In addition to the voices of artists and music experts, those of fans are also included in the vote. The condition for inclusion is that the release of the first album must have been at least 25 years ago.
