Aviation regulators impose draconian restrictions on Boeing’s economy

On January 5th of this year, Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 takes off from Portland, Oregon to Ontario, California. While still in the climb, a panel that is supposed to safely close one of the rear deactivated emergency exits shoots out into the open – the Boeing 737-9 returns to Portland. Just three days earlier, a Japan Airlines Airbus A350 collided with a Coast Guard De Havilland Dash-8 while landing at Tokyo Haneda Airport, killing four people. Only four, one would almost have to say given what could easily have happened.
