Volvo wants to build an electric car plant in eastern Slovakia. This was announced by Volvo CEO Jim Rowan and the Slovakian government. The conservative Prime Minister Eduard Heger called the planned investment “historic” and “an ambitious and strong signal for the future”. Construction should begin in 2023. Volvo wants to invest around 1.2 billion euros in the new plant near the eastern Slovakian regional capital Kosice (German Kaschau). Gradually, 7000 jobs would be created.
