Austria vacation: How the Mondsee should become a sustainable travel destination – travel

Quiet reigns at the Ederhof on the Irrsee. Under mighty deciduous trees there are loungers on the lawn between the farmhouse, outbuilding and barn. To the north the meadow slopes gently down to the Irrsee, in the south the mountains of the Salzkammergut shimmer. Sir Henry, the former leasing llama, which is now part of the yard’s inventory, strides across the pasture and eyes the visitors from afar. The Gaderer family has been offering farm holidays here since the 1950s, and guests can work with us or simply swim on the hotel’s own beach. “Most guests book again for next year straight away,” says farmer Alois Gaderer. His farm is an idyll valued by holidaymakers – like the entire region around Irrsee and Mondsee.
