Shortly before the start of the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic’s wrist is causing concern. But the defending champion gives the all-clear.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic has just before the start of the Australian Open given the all-clear. The wrist problems that had recently hampered the number one in the tennis world have largely been cured, said Djokovic in Melbourne.

“I trained well and am pain-free at the moment,” said Djokovic (36). “Everything looks good. Let’s see how it develops when the pressure increases again during the tournament. But at the moment everything is fine.”

Djokovic has won ten of his 24 Grand Slam titles in Melbourne. The Australian Open is therefore his favorite tournament. “I have never been more successful at any place in the world than here in the Rod Laver Arena,” said the Serb. “Hopefully I can build on my performance from last year, because my level was very high.” Djokovic will face Croatian qualifier Dino Prizmic in the first round this Sunday (9 a.m./Eurosport).
