STORY: Police and finance officers on the job live in a recent raid in the Australian state of New South Wales. They were looking for illegal tobacco and also took over the plantation on off-road motorcycles. And the investigators found what they were looking for in their concerted action: According to official information, they located, secured and destroyed around 16 tons of tobacco. Last year, the authorities received evidence of illegal cultivation on the property, which is about a four-hour drive north-west of Sydney. There have been no arrests for the time being, the investigations are ongoing. According to their own statements, the investigators assume a criminal syndicate. The Australian government regulates domestic tobacco growing quite rigorously. According to a press release, this has been illegal for more than a decade.
