No money for the 49-euro ticket, but 15 billion for chip factories? Nobody understands that anymore. It’s high time to reveal the savings tricks of the traffic light and talk honestly about priorities.
It is a strange juxtaposition that has been observed in German politics in recent weeks. On the one hand, the debt brake should also apply again next year, which is why the ministers have to save some things they would have liked to do: the parental allowance for high earners, for example, the expenditure for digitization in the Ministry of the Interior, perhaps also the federal subsidy for the 49th child -Euro ticket. This always causes outrage. On the other hand, the government throws billions around when it comes to industries it considers future: almost ten billion euros for one chip factory, five billion for the next, two billion for a steel mill that produces green steel and whose owner Thyssenkrupp himself only wants to invest a billion.
