Aurore Bergé accuses LFI of rolling out “the red carpet to the far right”

The approximately 13,000 LFI amendments to the pension reform bill do not please Aurore Bergé at all. La France insoumise, by its attitude in the National Assembly in the debates, “rolls out the red carpet to the far right”, thus accuses the patroness of the Renaissance deputies in the Sunday newspaper.

The deputy of Yvelines denounces “the systematic obstruction” practiced by the movement of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “Thousands (of amendments) are identical. Others ridicule the National Assembly (…) It is not worthy of parliamentary debate. We want to go to the end of the text and discuss article 7”, which postpones the legal retirement age to 64, she says.

Also asked about the Insoumis deputy Thomas Portes, excluded for 15 days from the Assembly after a controversial tweet targeting the Minister of Labor Olivier Dussopt, Aurore Bergé believes that “a milestone” has been crossed. “By doing so, (the rebels) damage the image of parliamentarians and roll out the red carpet to the far right. It’s a highway for the National Rally: they just have to say nothing to appear respectable”.

“We can find a majority in the Assembly and the Senate”

In the aftermath of a renewed mobilization in the street against the government’s very controversial project, the leader of the Renaissance deputies is mainly sticking to her positions, ensuring that “we must continue to demonstrate the need for reform”. As for a possible blocking of the country from March 7, Aurore Bergé believes that “the unions are aware that they have no interest in taking this path”. “I believe that we can find a majority in the Assembly and in the Senate,” she adds.

Currently stopped at article 2, out of the 20 in the text, the deputies still have some 16,000 amendments to study until the deadline of February 17.
