Augsburg: Daughter in need of care strangled – one year on probation – Bavaria

After the killing of a disabled woman, her elderly mother was given a one-year suspended sentence. In June, the 87-year-old woman killed her 57-year-old daughter. Because of killing on request, the mother received a sentence of one year’s imprisonment on probation, said the spokesman for the Augsburg district court, Dominik Semsch, on Tuesday. The conviction had been accepted and was already final.

The mother had strangled her daughter, who had been disabled since birth and was in need of care, in their Augsburg apartment and attempted suicide. The public prosecutor had initially investigated the woman for manslaughter, so the 87-year-old had to be temporarily held in custody. Investigations later revealed that the daughter asked her mother to take her life. As a result, only the charge of killing on demand was investigated and the old woman released from prison. The Penal Code provides for a prison sentence of between six months and five years for killing on demand.
