While cutting out cookies in Augsburg, a girl got her finger trapped and then had to see a surgeon – and could only be freed from the mold under anesthesia. The roughly three-year-old girl helped bake cookies and got caught in a sharp-edged ring, said a fire department spokesman on Friday.
She was first taken to a surgical practice on Thursday afternoon, but because all attempts to free it failed, she was taken to the operating room without further ado. A firefighter was called in and was finally able to remove the ring. After the 30-minute procedure, the child and their parents had to spend one night in the hospital.
The fire brigade points out that they have special equipment to remove rings and other things as painlessly as possible.
