Audi: Why Audi boss Markus Duesmann no longer suits VW – Economy

He was bold and uncomfortable, but when things got stuck, the Audi boss lacked support. The expulsion of Markus Duesmann fits the strategy of VW boss Blume – who, however, takes the risk with the new one.

VW boss Oliver Blume likes comparisons, especially those with the sports world. Blume likes to say that he imagines the large VW group as a football team. He is the head coach, the brand bosses are the players. Every single player may be good, but not everyone may be playing in the right position. Some people don’t even fit into the game system that the new coach – in other words: flower – has come up with. And because the team is only successful if the team functions as a whole, the head coach occasionally gets down to it. For the player Markus Duesmann, previously in the position of Audi boss, this means: off to the substitutes’ bench and, in the medium term, release for the transfer market.
