He wants, says Stefan Weickert, first of all to take care of a few “formalities”. It’s quite an understatement by the presiding judge in the Audi trial. Finally, on Tuesday, after more than two and a half years, the proceedings are coming to an end in big steps: Both the former head of engine development, Wolfgang Hatz, and the former engineer Giovanni P. have confessed what they are accused of here. So only one is missing, the third accused: ex-Audi boss Rupert Stadler. And he could soon follow.
