She became known for roles in “Alf” and “Seinfeld”. And she was in love with James Dean too. US actress Liz Sheridan has died.
American actress Liz Sheridan, best known for her TV roles on sitcoms “Seinfeld” and “Alf”, has died.
According to her manager Amanda Hendon, she died on Friday at her home in New York, five days after her 93rd birthday, as reported by CNN and the Hollywood Reporter.
Sheridan acted in Broadway musicals and in film and television productions from the 1980s. She played a nosy neighbor in the extraterrestrial series “Alf” and the worried mother of comedian Jerry Seinfeld in the sitcom “Seinfeld”.
Seinfeld paid tribute to Sheridan on Twitter, saying: “Liz has always been the sweetest, kindest TV mom a son could ask for. Every time she appeared on our show, it was the most comforting feeling for me. I’m so lucky to have known her.”
Sheridan began her career as a dancer in New York. In 1951 she met the then unknown actor James Dean. She wrote about their love story in the book Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life With James Dean: A Love Story (2000). It ended when Dean went to Hollywood.
Sheridan has also appeared in Broadway productions, including the musical Happy End, starring Meryl Streep. She later focused on film and television.
