Aschaffenburg: A pension for the volunteer fire brigade – Bavaria

Of

Matthias Köpf and Olaf Przybilla, Aschaffenburg

Aschaffenburg is the first municipality in Bavaria that will pay out a pension to honorary members of the volunteer fire brigade. The contracts were signed these days, and the city in Franconia, which has 71,000 inhabitants, is playing a pioneering role. The city concludes an old-age provision contract with the Versicherungskammer Bayern for those who have served for at least one year and completed the relevant training. How much the city pays in each case depends on the individual commitment of the fire brigade. However, a maximum of 840 euros is spent per year and firefighter, and Aschaffenburg expects expenses of up to 120,000 euros per year.
