As a chatbot of the Postillon Bavaria (almost) explains – Bavaria

The question is simple, simpler than the answer. “Who or what is this Bayern?” – that actually required a complex sequence of discussions with all sorts of historical and cultural cross-references. Instead, a counter question follows. “Bavaria?” You don’t know it, but it sounds like “an indefinable mass of goo”. “Probably some strange body part only found in the dark of the forest.”

Sounds weird? But that’s how it is, or intended, the result of the “first artificial arrogance”, a chatbot called DeppGPT. It comes from Satire portal based in Fürth The postilion – and is considered the latest craze on the net as well as a successful pastiche of the chatbot ChatGPT. Ever since it saw the light of day on the Internet, artificial intelligence has been the topic of the hour, which you can tell from the fact that people suddenly say something about it who have had nothing to say about it for years.

Back to the arrogance from Fürth. It works in a similar way to its role model, users feed it with instructions – but unlike the original, they have to see for themselves where they are with the results. As it should be for a software from Franconia, DeppGPT is rather distanced towards questions about Bavarian. At least the bot knows about local customs that Bavarian children “eat down a mug of beer every morning before they go to school”. Anyone who strokes an animal in a pasture automatically becomes a member of FC Bayern. And to join the CSU, all you have to do is drop by the nearest branch with a pint of beer in hand and say “O’zapft is!” call. Yes, DeppGPT admits, that also sounds crazy, “but that’s how it works there”.

The question of this Bayern would be answered sufficiently confusing. Other question marks remain. For example – and this is no joke – DeppGPT found, among other things, the prime minister’s favorite campaign slogan “Leberkäs und Lasern”: “Oh,” Markus Söder, “he doesn’t mean it that seriously! Bavaria wouldn’t be Bavaria either, if we wouldn’t ride dinosaurs and unicorns and talk nonsense.” Is this still satire or already reality? phew A good question for the next AI.
