Arson attack on local politician: “Shaked to the foundations of my life” – Bavaria

A former “lateral thinker” set fire to the car of Kitzinger city councilor Uwe Hartmann, and the fire threatened to spread to his apartment. The defendant explains in court: Hartmann’s political stance did not suit him.

From

Olaf Przybilla, Kitzingen/Würzburg

The defendant was annoyed with Uwe Hartmann, simply annoyed. At that time, Hartmann was a local politician in Kitzingen, an environmental consultant, and primarily involved in social policy. During the pandemic, he was not alone in advocating for general vaccination requirements. He also campaigned for vigils to commemorate deceased Corona victims and specifically praised the use of relief workers. All of this was too much for the now 31-year-old defendant; he was, as they say, a “lateral thinker” at the time. Because he didn’t like the attitude of a local politician, he set his car on fire on the night of February 4, 2022.
