Around twenty colleges from the Lyon academy targeted

Bomb threats continue to disrupt students’ daily lives. Monday morning, twenty-two colleges in the Loire, Rhône and Ain were the subject of a bomb threat sent simultaneously. The establishments, all located in the Lyon academy, received the same email at 5 a.m. referring to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which also includes a ransom demand of several million euros, according to the gendarmes.

If the alert was described as “far-fetched” by an investigator, the police and gendarmerie are currently “resolving doubts” in the public and private colleges affected, confirmed the rectorate of the academy .

Around thirty alerts in Grenoble

In Lyon, the Catholic university was also targeted by a bomb threat and evacuated, according to the Rhône prefecture which specified that a dog team had been deployed.

Unfounded bomb threats have proliferated since September throughout the country, particularly in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, disrupting classes. Last week, the Grenoble area was the victim of around thirty alerts which hampered the activity of around twenty establishments, sometimes for several days in a row.
