Arkéa Ultim Challenge – Brest: waterway aboard Armel Le Cléac’h’s Banque Populaire

Arkéa Ultim Challenge – Brest

It was 6 p.m. when Armel Le Cléac’h called his technical team to inform them that he had discovered damage to the foredeck, which led to a leak into the central hull.

Clearly, the skipper of “Banque Populaire XI” is not spared in this round the world trip. Forced to make two stopovers in Brazil: one on the descent towards the Cape of Good Hope due to a torn front balcony and a foil problem. He stopped in Recife. And one on the way back where he made a second technical stopover in Rio for his rudders.

A few days before the arrival in Brest, the Saint-Politain is once again betrayed by a technical problem. A leak in the central hull this time. If all goes well for the skipper, he will be in contact with his team on land to try to find a solution. Some 1,700 miles from the finish line where he was expected this weekend, Le Cléac’h is studying all the solutions.
