Are the FCB women crowned champions in Leverkusen?

A week before the season finale of the women’s Bundesliga, FC Bayern can make the championship clear. But Leverkusen have something against it.

In the league, the FC Bayern women lead the table by four points over VfL Wolfsburg. Alexander Straus’ team can now secure their fifth championship after 1976, 2015, 2016 and 2021 early on matchday 21 at Bayer Leverkusen.

Straus’ team won the first leg 2-0. He still expects a difficult duel: “I have a lot of respect for Leverkusen. They are a good team that plays good football. It will be an exciting game and a difficult away game for us,” he said recently. Bayern Munich’s Sydney Lohmann also emphasized: “Leverkusen are an unpleasant side who can put in a strong performance on good days.”

Leverkusen are currently in fifth place with 26 points. Bayern was able to prevail 20 times out of a total of 23 duels.

The game in the live ticker:

80 minutes: Counterattack by Leverkusen. Gräwe is released, but processes the ball too slowly and shoots from 16 meters. Her attempt ends up in the middle of Grohs’ arms.

77 minutes: Zadrazil is now also trying from a distance. But her shot is deflected and ends up out of bounds. The subsequent corner kick lands at Schüller, but she doesn’t hit the ball properly and just misses the goal.

75 minutes: In return, Leverkusen combined in front of Grohs’ goal. Bayings closes in from about 18 yards but just misses the bottom right corner.

74 minutes: Big chance for Bayern. Damnjanovic, who has just come on as a substitute, immediately increases the pressure on the Leverkusen defense and forces a throw-in, which she quickly executes herself. She gets the ball back straight away, tries a diagonal pass to the far post, but the ball gets too sharp for Schüller. The ball goes two meters wide of the goal.

70 minutes: Bayern only have 20 minutes to clinch the championship early.

66 minutes: Straus is now making the first change. Jovana Damnjanovic now comes into play for Magull.

65 minutes: The first warning of the game: Bayern’s Stanway receives a yellow card for a supposedly easy foul on Jil Baijings.

62 minutes: The Leverkusen change. Ivana Fuso now comes on for Arfaoui.

59 minutes: Bayern now play more often in front of the opposing goal. Simon’s cross finds Lohmann’s head. But there is no pressure on the ball and Klink can easily parry.

57 minutes: Another standard: Simon shoots at goal from 30 meters. Klink punches the ball up and accidentally serves Rall. She wants to put it down to Lohmann, but she misses the ball.

56 minutes: Schüller is now trying Rall over the real thing. The full-back flanked the ball too imprecisely. But the ball slips through to Lohmann. Your attempt will be deflected in time.

53 minutes: Bayern have now taken over the game more. However, patience is still required.
