The German Television Prize has gone through one or two changes in its history – but stability has now returned. There will be another primetime show in 2024.

The award of the The German Television Award will be shown as a major primetime show on Erste this year. The organizers announced this. The WDR has taken the lead on behalf of the ARD – the awards will be presented to the winners again in Cologne at the end of September 2024.

The makers are sticking to the concept of spreading the awards in the numerous categories over two evenings and thus spreading them out. Another “Night of the Creatives” is planned for September 24th. In the past, heads from the TV industry who mostly work behind the camera were honored in a festive but somewhat smaller setting. The big TV gala will follow on September 25th as a television show in the MMC studios in Cologne. It was said that the first one would be broadcast at 8:15 p.m.

The leadership of the German Television Prize changes year after year. The award is supported by ARD, RTL, Sat.1, ZDF and Deutsche Telekom. The streaming providers Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video are partners. Last year, Sat.1 broadcast the TV awards gala, also as an evening show.

In 2024, the expert jury will include actress Valerie Niehaus, journalist Stephan Lamby and presenter Collien Ulmen-Fernandes.
