Opinions differ as to whether there have been enough vaccination appeals recently. In any case, there were many, and again far too many people have still not listened to these appeals. In Murnau, for example, a naturopath hotspot in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, many people doubted the value of vaccinations even before Corona. It hasn’t gotten any better since then, and so a few weeks ago the Murnau market councils thought it would be a good idea to set up their own working group to formulate a market council appeal for vaccinations. This working group did not lack for example formulations, and after a few discussions they also delivered. Only the market town council then cut the proposal down quite a bit and in the end no longer asked for vaccination. The big argument only recently broke out about the fact that all this has become public.
Because the colorful bourgeois group of the mayor and ÖDP district chairman Rolf Beuting had briefly posted their own draft appeal plus details of the debate on Facebook. This is exactly why the indignation of the other fractions, who seemed to be looking into a kind of abyss of market town council treason, broke out over them in the most recent council meeting. Because the entire committee had previously only discussed the public vaccination appeal behind closed doors. This is a clear violation of the Bavarian Municipal Code, which provides for a non-public debate only in well-defined exceptional cases. But in the eyes of the individual councils, that’s obviously less of a problem. Because practically everyone does it in one way or another, not just in Murnau. And in addition, according to the Murnau town hall, the subject was discussed twice explicitly under the agenda item “Inquiries and announcements in the non-public section”.
The Murnau councilors now seem to think it’s much worse than their own secrecy that one of them squealed. At least they refrained from imposing a fine, as would be permitted by the municipal code for violations of the duty of confidentiality. And who knows: maybe they even asked the people of Murnauer to vaccinate – in secret – after all.
