In Saint-Ouen, Aubervilliers and Paris… Anti-Semitic inscriptions were discovered this morning, this night and this weekend in several towns in Ile-de-France, according to various corroborating sources. In Paris, our journalist Thibaut Chevillard discovered them this morning in several streets of the 14th, rue d’Alésia, rue Dareau and in small adjacent streets.
“Awakening of shame this morning in Paris 14th”, Anne Gindt tweeted this morning, Director of Communications at the real estate agency Nexity. “These acts are despicable and intolerable. They have been reported to the police headquarters and the City services will intervene as quickly as possible to remove these odious tags,” reacted the assistant for cleanliness Antoine Guillou.
Stenciled stars
Stars of David were also stencilled during the night from Monday to Tuesday on the walls of a house in Saint-Ouen sur Seine (Seine-Saint-Denis), according to the town hall, who denounces in a press release “despicable” acts and expresses “its solidarity and total support to the family victims of these anti-Semitic and racist acts”.
“During the weekend of October 28 and 29, walls in our city were sprayed with ostensibly anti-Semitic inscriptions,” also indicated the UDI mayor of Aubervilliers, in the same department, in a press release published Monday afternoon. “I remind you that anti-Semitism constitutes an offense: the Law prohibits and sanctions racism and anti-Semitism in all their forms. These acts are in total contradiction with the fundamental values that we hold, including tolerance, equality and mutual respect, particularly in the current context,” writes Karine Franclet.
Since October 7, the date of the unprecedented attack launched by Hamas in Israel, 819 anti-Semitic acts have been recorded in France and resulted in 414 arrests, according to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin. A figure which is equivalent to “one or two years of anti-Semitic acts”, according to Crif president Yonathan Arfi, who deplores “an extremely powerful acceleration of the phenomenon”.
