Another 73,000 homes remain without electricity Monday evening

Some 73,000 homes are still without electricity this Monday evening in Brittany and Normandy, after the passage of storm Ciaran during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, said the distribution network manager Enedis. “At 7:00 p.m. this Monday, more than 93% of homes have been restored following storm Ciaran,” Enedis noted in a press release.

The public company still counted 93,000 customers without electricity this Monday morning. 1.2 million homes were plunged into darkness after the storm. “Solidarity is there and continues with reinforcements from the EDF Nuclear Rapid Action Force (FARN) and the Irish electricity distributor ESB Networks,” she underlined, noting that 3,400 agents are mobilized.

500 generators were transported and distributed to the impacted areas as well as 500 repair kits on the repair sites. 8,000 poles have been ordered and transported, while 30 helicopters are mobilized, as well as drones, described Enedis.

Enedis did not specify how many households affected by storm Domingos between Saturday and Sunday remained “still to be repowered” on Monday evening. There were still 33,000 on Monday morning, especially in Charente-Maritime and Gironde.
