After a defeat in the Bremen election: In the case of Anne Will, CDU politician Czaja dished out a lot against the Greens and even amazed the presenter.

For weeks now there have been quarrels about the heating law and Robert Habeck’s personnel policy. The Greens received the reward for this on Sunday in the form of a defeat in the Bremen election.

On the evening of the election, Anne Will hosted, among others, the leader of the Green Party, Ricarda Lang. The discussion in the studio revolved around the question: “High standards, hard reality – does the traffic light have solutions for the current crises?”

Guest at “Anne Will”:

  • Lars Klingbeil, SPD party chairman
  • Ricarda Lang, federal chairwoman of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen
  • Amira Mohamed Ali, leader of the left parliamentary group in the Bundestag
  • Mario Czaja, CDU General Secretary and Member of the Bundestag
  • Robin Alexander, Deputy Editor-in-Chief “Die Welt”

The fact is: For the Greens, the hard reality is that Federal Minister of Economics Habeck has brought his party little shine, especially in the weeks before the election.

How many of the lost votes are “homegrown in Bremen” and how many are due to frustration with the heating law and the Graichen affair, Will wanted to know from the Green Party leader. “There wasn’t much tailwind from Berlin now,” she admitted. First and foremost, the election and its result were country-specific.

Ricarda Lang: “Serious error” has been corrected

With a view to the affair surrounding Habeck’s Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, Patrick Graichen, Lang said: “A serious mistake was made”, which was admitted and is now being corrected.

In the direction of CDU General Secretary Mario Czaja, the Greens leader criticized that his union was using the personnel policy affair to stir up fear of the climate policy of the traffic light among the population. However, the Christian Democrats failed to provide any answers.

With regard to the new campaign by the CDU/CSU “Fair heating instead of heating up”, SPD leader Lars Klingbeil also vented his anger on “Anne Will”: “Concentrate on putting forward your proposals in parliament, but stop to protest against sensible climate protection on the street,” he railed in the direction of Czaja.

The CDU general secretary did not let that sit. The mobilization of those who are afraid and worried would not allow the Union to be banned and would of course continue to advance, he made clear.

He also criticized that the “support and demand” approach had been replaced by bans in the traffic light government’s climate policy. He also thinks that the abolition of CO2 pricing is wrong

Mario Czaja sees “Conspiracy Theory” by Ricarda Lang and Robert Habeck

Towards the end of the discussion, Czaja delivered a particularly low blow: Lang and Habeck had started a “conspiracy theory,” the Secretary General openly declared. “What? I haven’t heard of that yet!”, Will replied in astonishment. “Conspiracy theory?” Lang asked in disbelief.

“I say the term very clearly and distinctly!” Czaja asserted. “Really, you’re serious?!”, Will asked again. The CDU general secretary then explained what he meant by “conspiracy theory”.

It gives the impression that anyone who criticizes the climate law is interested in preserving the old, fossil world, the Christian Democrat said. However, that is far from the case.

“The true fossil on this question is Robert Habeck,” Czaja ranted. Because: With its focus on an extremely expensive technology, the climate crisis has done a “disservice”.

Will took advantage of this boiling point of the roundtable to change the subject. Maybe better like this!?
