Anne Hidalgo will make her choice “in the fall” on her candidacy

If we will have to wait a little longer to find out whether Anne Hidalgo will run for the Elysee, we do know a little more about the conditions necessary for a candidacy of the elected socialist. The mayor of Paris is indeed “not in favor of a primary” to designate a left-wing candidate for the 2022 presidential election.

“An American-style primary is aimed at the entire electorate. In France, it is not the same logic: it mobilizes especially the militants or the sympathizers ”, argues Anne Hidalgo in an interview with the JDD. As for her own ambitions, “in the fall, it will be the time to make a decision”, she considers, while the latest opinion studies only credit her with 10% of the intentions of vote, without qualifying for the second round.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us. I will take all my part in it. For this, I rely on a network of mayors, through the platform “Ideas in common”, in order to germinate proposals, “explains the mayor of Paris. “I’m making my way,” she adds.

Good points in Jadot

From there to ally with the whole of the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon included? “The left wing of the American Democratic Party has formed a solid body to allow Joe Biden to win!” », Answers the socialist leader, who also testifies to his« respect for Yannick Jadot »(EELV) who, according to her« works, advances, participates in the enrichment of the debate ». But, she observes, “I do the same.” Among her proposals, the hypothetical candidate for the Elysee intends to focus on learning, an “essential revolution” that she calls “to develop very massively” for young people after the bac.

Moreover, while the deconfinement announced by Emmanuel Macron should allow cafetiers and restaurateurs to reopen the terraces from May 19, Anne Hidalgo said she wanted to “perpetuate the ephemeral terraces that were created last summer”. “As for the fee, we cannot, legally, grant total free”, she explains, but there will be an exemption “until the end of the summer”.
