Shock at the Dortmund “crime scene”! Actress Anna Schudt (47) said goodbye to the Sunday thriller after ten years. The character Martina Bönisch is shot at the end of the latest case “Love Me” (February 20, the first). There is no salvation for the inspector – that becomes clear to the viewer with the last scene. But what’s next for the Dortmund team? “After the death of Martina Bönisch, the three of Faber, Herzog and Pawlak will investigate for the time being,” reveals WDR editor Frank Tönsmann when asked by the news agency spot on news. The character Martina Bönisch, and thus also Anna Schudt, cannot be replaced one-to-one.
What happened to Peter Faber?
The fact that Peter Faber and Martina Bönisch finally got closer to each other in “Tatort: Liebe mich” is particularly tragic. Now the inspector, whose wife and daughter died years ago in a car accident that later turned out to be an assassination attempt, has to deal with another dramatic loss. “I don’t want to anticipate exactly how Faber will deal with the death of Martina Bönisch,” says Tönsmann. “Of course it will have an impact.”
Does the figure break in pain? Is Faber possibly also leaving the Dortmund team? “I can assure you that the character Peter Faber is and will remain an integral part of ‘Tatort’ Dortmund,” the editor gives the all-clear.
Filming for the first case without Bönisch is scheduled to begin this spring.

Actors keep leaving the “Tatort” universe – Meret Becker (53) will be seen for the last time in her role as Berlin investigator Nina Rubin in spring 2022. While most farewells were announced in advance, Martina Bönisch’s tragic death came as a surprise. “We didn’t want to take the tension away from our viewers,” Tönsmann defended the decision to keep her departure secret. “It was a common wish of Anna Schudt and WDR not to announce her departure in advance.”
