He was one of the few of his kind in Europe – the bull rhinoceros Kalusho. Recently his health has deteriorated significantly.
He was one of the few black rhinos in Europe and was part of the for 30 years Frankfurt zoo – now bull rhino Kalusho has died at the age of 37. The animal was euthanized on Wednesday due to its poor health, the zoo announced on Thursday.
The bull has lost weight in recent months and has become more and more passive. In addition, arthrosis also limited him. “Yesterday things got so bad that we had to make the decision to put him down quicker than we thought,” said zoo director Christina Geiger.
