Andreas Kieling fled the GDR as a teenager, trained as a sailor and as a forest ranger before becoming one of the best-known German wildlife filmmakers. Kieling is often out in the wild for months, filming bears in Alaska, mountain gorillas in Africa and wild cats in the Eifel, and diving with sharks off Australia. The 62-year-old sits in a good mood in the sun on his farm in the Eifel.
