It is an embassy in a state of emergency. Supporters laid candles and flowers in front of Andriy Melnyk’s official residence. Police guard the entrance. Melnyk, 46, asks to sit on his green sofa. The diplomat has represented Ukraine in Germany for almost eight years. He was always a friend of clear words. It has become even clearer since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The “soldier on the diplomatic front,” as he calls himself, offends. That’s exactly what he wants.
