After an exceptional year for French cinema with the Palme d’Or awarded to Titanium by Audrey Ducournau and the Golden Lion awarded to The Event by Audrey Diwan, will the Cesar ceremony finally reward female talents more? The 47th Cesar ceremony, organized under the supervision of Véronique Cayla and filmmaker Éric Toledano, will take place on February 25 at the Olympia. Antoine de Caunes will be the master of ceremonies for the event, broadcast on Canal+. The Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques unveiled this Wednesday the list of nominees for the 47th Cesar ceremony, which will be chaired by screenwriter and director Danièle Thompson. The 4,363 cinema professionals who are members of the Academy will have one month to vote and decide between them, in 24 categories. 171 films are in the running, released between the reopening of French theaters at the end of May and December 31.
The film Illusions lost, quoted 15 times, adaptation of Balzac’s novel by Xavier Giannoli, is at the top of the nominations for the César 2022, follows the rock opera Annette by Leos Carax with 11 nominations, and Aline, Valérie Lemercier’s biopic on Celine Dion with 10 nominations.
Thrillers North ferry (7 nominations) or Black Box (5 nominations), The divide (6 nominations) on a saturation health system, The Olympiads by Jacques Audiard (5 nominations) and the fresco on the war Onoda, 10,000 nights in the jungle look like outsiders.
Golden Palm Titanium and thee Golden Lion presented to The Event by Audrey Diwan, only received 4 nominations each. If Audrey Ducournau is named director, strangely enough, her feature film is not. The full list of nominations below.
