Kim Cattrall has a cameo in the new season of And Just Like That… That’s about it for her “Sex and the City” character Samantha, though.
“And Just Like That…” is back! The second season of the “Sex and the City” offshoot also started in Germany on June 22nd. The new episodes also mean a return – albeit brief – for Kim Cattrall (66) in the role of her cult character Samantha, as was officially confirmed for the first time in early June. It should obviously stay with a cameo, even if fans are certainly hoping for more.
When the boss wants to see you
Apparently, Cattrall’s short appearance was only possible because she was asked by the highest authority. On the US show “Today” the actress says that it’s a special experience “when the head of HBO calls you and asks, ‘How can I make this possible?'”. Cattrall should have fun with it, feel comfortable with it – and that’s how all her demands for an appearance were met. “And Just Like That…” is a production for the streaming service HBO Max. In Germany, the series can be seen via Sky Q and the streaming service Wow.

Cattrall therefore did not want to be in front of the camera with her old “Sex and the City” co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker (58), Kristin Davis (58) and Cynthia Nixon (57) – and showrunner Michael Patrick King (68) should not be on set when she’s there. According to media reports Samantha will only be on the phone with Carrie (Parker) in the season 2 finale.
She will come back “just for this cameo” at the end of August, as she now explains. According to Cattrall, the shoot lasted around four hours. It felt like she could “dip her toe into the past for a wonderful afternoon.” However, when asked if she wanted to delve further into it, she said sternly, “That’s as far as I’ll go.” Cattrall will probably never say goodbye to the character itself, Samantha “gave her so much” and she is grateful to the character.
