An RATP bus “runs away on its own”, drives over a tree and ends up in front of a building

Little scare early in the morning. A Parisian RATP bus ended up on the sidewalk, uprooting a tree on its route, avenue de Villiers, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. The accident took place at 7:05 a.m., according to a local resident contacted by 20 minutes.

“The driver said that the bus was at a stop and ran away on its own,” referring to an “inexplicable technical problem,” she says. Fortunately, the collision caused no injuries, said the mother who first reported the incident in a private Facebook group for mothers in the neighborhood.

Limited damage

Apart from the tree which was rolled over, the material damage seems limited according to the images sent by the resident of the Parisian district to 20 minutes. When contacted, RATP said it was investigating the facts. As for the Paris police headquarters, it has not yet responded to our requests.

This is not the first time that Parisian buses have been noticed by unexplained behavior. Last September, one of them, fortunately without passengers, caught fire on the ring road. It was the third event of this kind concerning machines of the Parisian transport authority which, from time to time, subject their drivers to mysterious loss of control.
