Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal Quick-Step), Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) … The punchers were not at the party on Saturday during the first stage, far behind Adam Yates (UAE), first yellow jersey of this Tour de France 2023. The two riders hope to take their revenge, Sunday July 2, during the second stage in the Spanish Basque Country between Vitoria-Gasteiz and San Sebastian.

With nearly 209 kilometers and 2,949 meters of elevation gain at pprogram, the riders will tackle the mythical climb of Jaizkibel, taken each year by the Clasica San Sebastian. With 8.1 kilometers of ascent at an average of 5.3%, it should determine the identity of the winner, while there will be 16.5 km to go from the summit. A stage that suits the punchers, unless it is the scene of a new duel between the two big favorites Tadej Pogacar (UAE) and Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma).
